Golf

As at the end of 2008 there were 13 golf courses in Hungary and more planning to open in the future. Giving you a golf course within 30 minutes of where ever you are in Hungary.

In the Lake Balaton area there are two brand new golf courses.

A new 18 hole golf course at Royal Balaton Golf & Yacht Club boasts some fantastic views over Lake Balaton and is at Balatonudvari near Tihany. The Club opened its 18-hole championship course in October 2008.

These are the current fees(as at Dec. 2009). Please check with the club before booking.

Green fees when you turn up on the day for 2010 are as follows:

• Weekdays 18 holes - 15,900 HUF
• Weekdays 9 holes - 9,900 HUF
• Weekend 18 holes - 20,900 HUF
• Weekend 9 holes - 13,900 HUF

There is a special membership system for foreigners, which provides a lifetime membership, ten x 18-hole green fees yearly and other special benefits. This costs 880,000 HUF then you can either pay 400 Euros for 10 x 18 hole rounds or 260,000 HUF for unlimited rounds.

The Imperial Balaton Golf course near Keszthely has a driving range open and the first 6 of the 18 hole course opens in September 2009. A further 3 holes open in Spring 2010. Green fees for 2 x 9 hole rounds will cost approx £30. The remaining 9 holes will open in 2011. Being directly at Lake Balaton this unique location is ideal for an eighteen-hole championship course and in addition to the golf club the guests will be able to enjoy a beach for swimming, a tennis court and a club house with restaurant. The popular tourist destinations Keszthely and Heviz are also only a few minutes away from the golf club.

The cost of playing golf in Hungary is relatively inexpensive, however for those that own property in Hungary the real cost is even less and they have an investment that is growing in value.
