Walking in Hungary and at Lake Balaton
Hungary is a beautiful unspoilt country which makes it an ideal destination
for walkers.
Hungary is known for its extremely diverse natural landscape. Ranging
from unspoilt marshland, steppes, bogs, river flats, pastures through
to forests and meadows the countryside is populated by a fascinating mix
of flora and fauna typical of the region.
With
9 National Parks and an equal number of Nature Parks, along with 11,000
km of marked tourist paths, Hungary is one of the best walking areas in
Europe,
Its birdlife is very diverse because many of the eastern species reach
their western most breeding point here. The unspoilt natural environment
of lakes, reeds, forest, wetlands, rivers make it very unique to other
parts of Europe.
It is not uncommon to spot well over 200 different species in a weeks’
holiday
The Lake Balaton area is particularly nice.
On
the southern shore of Lake Balaton it is flatter and has lovely beaches
and from there you can see the wonderful sunsets behind the hills on the
northern shoreline. The famous vineyards are on the north shore famous
for its meadows, forests and ravines. At Heviz in the north west corner
of the lake you pass alongside Europe’s largest thermal spa where
the water temperature is in excess of 33 deg C.
We offer a range of accommodation options across the western part of
Hungary which are close to nature reserves. Most hotels are either close
to or indeed have as part of the facilities Wellness Centres that Hungary
is famous for. We would be pleased to advise you on a range of accommodation
options ranging from budget Budapest city hotels through to superior health
spa resorts.
