Water Skiing in HungaryIn an effort to safeguard the cleanliness of the water, private motor yachts, motorboats and jet skis are not allowed on Lake Balaton. In Siofok on the south shore and Balatonfured on the north shore you will find water ski lanes – overhead cables powered by motors. The village of Vonyarcvashegy located in the Keszthely bay, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, close to Keszthely and Heviz a water ski lane has been built which is suitable for wakeboard use as well. The pentagon-shape lane offers various fun elements. The lane is open on weekends in May, and every day from 9am until 8pm from June until the end of the summer.
For traditional water skiing and jet skiing we recommend the River Danube at Dunafoldvar approx 45 miles from the South East corner of Lake Balaton and just south of Dunaujvaros ( see map below ). The Danube is a very wide river and not subject to the same controls and restrictions as Lake Balaton.
With regular low cost flights from across the UK to Budapest the eastern shore of Lake Balaton is approximately 75 minutes car journey from the airport using the M7 motorway. The western shore of Lake Balaton is a 30 minute car journey from the Croatian border and a further 2 hour journey to the Adriatic coast. Water skiing and Jet Skiing in Hungary is relatively low cost and for
those that own property
in Hungary participation can be enjoyed on a regular basis. Should you have any further questions then please contact us.
